Best GT & Endurance Events in Europe 2026

GT and endurance racing is where the raw spectacle of professional motorsport meets machinery that still looks like something you could, in theory, drive on the road. The cars are beautiful, the racing is close, and the events themselves often offer an accessibility that single-seater racing simply cannot match. Paddock access is better, the action on track is more relatable, and the endurance format creates narrative arcs that play out over hours rather than laps.

Europe in 2026 offers a packed calendar across several major championships. The FIA World Endurance Championship brings prototype and GT machinery to some of the continent’s finest circuits, DTM continues its rebirth as a GT3-based series with superb racing, and the GT World Challenge Europe rounds produce some of the best multi-class action anywhere. Here is where you need to be.

WEC Imola | April 2026

Imola’s place in motorsport history is secure, and the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari provides a fitting stage for the WEC’s European campaign. The circuit is fast, demanding, and set in the Emilia-Romagna heartland where racing is practically a religion. The mix of Hypercars and GT machinery produces excellent racing through the chicanes and fast sweeps of this classic layout. The Italian fans are passionate and the paddock atmosphere is a world away from the corporate feel of some circuits.

DTM Red Bull Ring | April 2026

The DTM season kicks off in the Styrian mountains, and the Red Bull Ring’s compact layout produces the kind of close, combative racing that GT3 machinery is perfectly suited to. The short lap means the action is constant, and the mountain backdrop makes for spectacular viewing. DTM has successfully reinvented itself as one of the best GT racing series in the world, and the opening round sets the tone for what promises to be another fiercely competitive season.

WEC Spa | May 2026

Spa-Francorchamps is magnificent for any form of racing, but there is something particularly special about watching prototype and GT cars tackle its seven kilometres of Ardennes forest in an endurance format. The WEC round here has become one of the highlights of the season, serving as a perfect warm-up for Le Mans. The weather can change everything in an instant, and the combination of speed, strategy, and that extraordinary circuit makes for genuinely compelling motorsport.

24 Hours of Nurburgring | May 2026

If you attend one endurance race in your life, make it the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring. Over 130 cars tackle the full Nordschleife for an entire day and night, and the atmosphere in the forest sections after dark, with cars screaming past campfires and barbecues set up in clearings between the trees, is genuinely other-worldly. It is part race, part festival, part survival exercise, and the sheer variety of machinery on the grid, from full-factory GT3 cars to modified road cars, means there is always something to watch.

The camping is legendary, the bratwurst is constant, and the Nurburgring in late May can be surprisingly cold after midnight. Dress accordingly.

GT World Challenge Monza | May 2026

Monza’s long straights and heavy braking zones produce some of the most dramatic GT racing anywhere. The GT World Challenge field is deep with talent and factory-backed machinery, and the multi-class format means there is action at every point on the circuit. The slipstreaming battles into the first chicane are spectacular, and the Italian setting adds a layer of atmosphere that elevates the whole weekend.

24 Hours of Spa | June 2026

The 24 Hours of Spa is the blue-riband event of GT racing, and it deserves every bit of its reputation. The full 24-hour format on one of the world’s most challenging circuits, with a grid packed with factory drivers and teams, produces racing of extraordinary quality. The Ardennes weather plays its part, as always, and the night stints through Eau Rouge and Blanchimont in the rain are about as intense as motorsport gets.

The atmosphere in the spectator areas at Raidillon is electric, and the whole weekend has a real community feel among the fans who camp out around the circuit.

DTM Lausitzring | June 2026

The Lausitzring’s wide, open layout provides excellent overtaking opportunities and produces some of DTM’s most action-packed races. The long straights and heavy braking zones are ideal for GT3 machinery, and the series’ sprint format keeps the intensity high from lights out to chequered flag. It is a circuit that rewards bravery, and the DTM drivers have never been short of that.

DTM Norisring | July 2026

The Norisring street circuit in Nuremberg is DTM’s crown jewel, and the atmosphere here is unlike any other round on the calendar. The tight, unforgiving layout through the city streets produces drama on a scale that purpose-built circuits cannot match, and the crowds pack the grandstands to create a wall of noise. Contact is frequent, tempers run high, and the results are rarely predictable. It is the Monaco of touring car racing.

WEC Portimao | July 2026

The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao is one of the most spectacular circuits built in the modern era. The elevation changes are dramatic, the blind crests add real challenge for the drivers, and the Portuguese sunshine makes it a pleasure for spectators. The WEC visit brings the full complement of Hypercars and GT machinery, and the circuit’s flowing layout tends to produce excellent racing across all classes.

GTWC Magny-Cours | July 2026

Magny-Cours may have lost its Formula 1 race, but the circuit remains a serious venue that produces consistently good GT racing. The French facility is well-maintained and the layout, with its mix of fast sweeps and technical sections, suits GT3 cars beautifully. The GT World Challenge field always puts on a show here, and the Nevers region of Burgundy offers some of the finest wine and food in France for those who want to make a weekend of it.

DTM Nurburgring | August 2026

DTM returns to the Nurburgring for a round on the GP circuit, and the combination of this series with this venue always delivers. The German fans turn out in force, the atmosphere is passionate, and the circuit provides a stern test for the GT3 machinery. Combined with the sheer mythology of the Nurburgring itself, this is always one of the highlights of the DTM season.

ELMS Spa | August 2026

The European Le Mans Series brings its own brand of prototype and GT endurance racing to Spa, and the four-hour format is perfectly suited to the circuit’s length and character. The ELMS provides a platform for emerging talent and privateer teams, which gives the racing a raw, hungry quality that can sometimes be lacking at the very top level. The Spa round is always one of the best-attended and most competitive of the season.

GTWC Nurburgring | August 2026

The GT World Challenge visits the Nurburgring GP circuit, bringing another weekend of multi-class GT racing to Germany’s most famous motorsport venue. The grid quality is always strong, and the circuit rewards both car setup and driver skill in equal measure. The German round regularly produces excellent racing and some of the season’s most memorable moments.

ADAC GT Masters Salzburgring | September 2026

The Salzburgring is a fast, flowing circuit set in the Austrian hills near Salzburg, and the ADAC GT Masters series brings some of the best GT3 racing in Europe to this picturesque venue. The circuit rewards commitment through its high-speed sections, and the relatively compact layout means spectators can see a good portion of the action from well-chosen vantage points. It is a great day out in a beautiful part of Austria.

GTWC Barcelona | September 2026

Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya hosts the GT World Challenge for a round that often proves pivotal in the championship. The circuit is well-known to every team thanks to extensive testing, which levels the playing field and produces racing that comes down to pure execution and racecraft. The Spanish weather cooperates reliably, and the city itself provides an excellent base for the weekend.

DTM Zandvoort | September 2026

Zandvoort’s banked corners and fast, flowing layout produce some of the best DTM racing of the season. The Dutch fans are always enthusiastic, and the seaside atmosphere adds something special to the weekend. The banking on the final corner is a spectacular sight with a full grid of GT3 cars thundering through it, and the circuit’s tight nature means the racing is always close and combative.

DTM Hockenheim Finale | October 2026

The DTM season finale at Hockenheim is one of those events where the sporting drama is practically guaranteed. Championship positions are settled, relegation battles are fought, and the atmosphere in the Motodrom stadium section is superb. Hockenheim’s mix of long straights through the forest and the tight infield provides a fitting stage for the final act, and the German fans know how to send the season off properly.
