Car Events in Austria 2026

Austria is a small country with a car scene that consistently surprises people who are not familiar with it. Between the Red Bull Ring, the Alpine roads, and a grassroots community that runs meets almost every weekend through summer, there are well over 35 events on the calendar for 2026. This guide covers all of them, from Formula 1 at Spielberg to an evening meet on a football field in Himberg.

Motorsport

Lavanttal Rally | 9-11 April

The 48th edition of the Lavanttal Rally runs through the roads around Wolfsberg in southern Carinthia. This is one of the longest-running rallies in the country, and the stages through the rolling terrain of the Lavant Valley reward precision over outright speed. The event draws a mix of serious national championship contenders and privateers who know these roads by heart.

DTM Red Bull Ring | 24-26 April

GT3 cars from Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Lamborghini, and Ferrari descend on Spielberg for the DTM round. The Red Bull Ring is a short lap with big elevation changes, which makes for close racing and good viewing from the grandstands. The support programme usually fills the gaps between the main races, so there is rarely a quiet moment across the three days.

FIA Hill Climb Rechberg | 25-26 April

Rechberg opens the European Hillclimb Championship season on one of Austria’s most famous courses. The hill sits near Linz and the road climbs through forest with fast sweeps and technical sections that have been challenging drivers since the 1970s. Hillclimb paddocks are typically more accessible than circuit events, and the proximity to the cars as they pass is something you do not get anywhere else.

Austrian Slalom Championship | 2-3 May

The opening round of the Austrian Slalom Championship takes place at Greinbach. Slalom racing is a format that does not get much international attention, but in Austria it has a dedicated following. Drivers compete against the clock through a tight cone course, and the entry list usually spans everything from hot hatches to single-seaters.

PS Arena | 2-3 May

PS Arena is a multi-format automotive festival held at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The event tries to combine several strands of car culture into one weekend, and the venue gives it room to do that properly. If you are in Spielberg for the slalom at Greinbach on the same weekend, the two events pair well together.

Austrian Rallycross Championship Round 1 | 17-18 May

The first round of the Austrian Rallycross Championship runs at Greinbach. Rallycross is always entertaining because the races are short, the mixed-surface circuits keep drivers honest, and the close quarters mean contact is common. Greinbach hosts several car events through the year, and the rallycross weekends are among the most action-packed.

Austrian Grand Prix (F1) | 26-28 June

Formula 1 at Spielberg. The Red Bull Ring is compact, the views from the hillside are genuinely good, and the atmosphere has a festival quality that not every Grand Prix manages. The sprint format has become a regular feature here, which means extra on-track action across the weekend. Accommodation books out early and prices in the area climb steeply, so planning ahead helps.

MotoGP Austrian GP | 14-16 August

KTM’s home round brings a particular energy to Spielberg. The MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix draws a crowd that is loud and invested, and the racing at this circuit tends to produce late-braking battles into Turn 3. If you have never been to a MotoGP round, this is a good one to start with because the bikes are more visible and audible from the grandstands than cars.

Austrian Rallycross Championship Round 2 | 22-23 August

The second round of the Austrian Rallycross Championship returns to Greinbach in August. By this point in the season the championship picture is usually taking shape, and the racing gets more intense as a result.

Red Bull Ring Classics | 29-31 August

Historic motorsport at the Red Bull Ring closes out the circuit’s summer season. The grids cover several decades of racing machinery, and hearing older cars at full noise through the Styrian hills is worth the trip even if you are not deeply invested in the specific series running. The paddock access at historic events is typically generous.

ADAC GT Masters Salzburgring | 4-6 September

The ADAC GT Masters brings professional GT3 racing to the Salzburgring at Plainfeld. The Salzburgring is a fast, flowing circuit that does not host as many major events as the Red Bull Ring, which makes the GT Masters visit feel like a slightly different occasion. The racing is close, the driver pairings are interesting, and the atmosphere is more relaxed than at the bigger venues.

Shows

Auto & Bike Klagenfurt | 10-12 April

The Auto & Bike expo in Klagenfurt covers cars and motorcycles across a large exhibition space. It leans toward new models and dealer displays, but there is usually enough variety to make it worthwhile if you are in Carinthia in early spring and want to see what is coming to market.

Oldtimer Fair Tulln | 9-10 May

The 38th edition of the Oldtimer Fair at the Tulln exhibition centre brings together over 750 exhibitors. The scale of this event makes it one of the largest classic car fairs in the German-speaking world. Parts, literature, memorabilia, and cars for sale fill multiple halls, and if you are hunting for something specific for a restoration, this is the kind of place where you are likely to find it.

Custom Car Show Tulln | 9-10 May

Running alongside the Oldtimer Fair at the same Tulln venue, the Custom Car Show focuses on modified and custom-built machines. The juxtaposition of pristine classics in one hall and wildly modified builds in the next makes for an interesting day out that covers both ends of the automotive spectrum.

Custom Mania | 13-14 June

Custom Mania in Pottelsdorf is a dedicated custom and lowrider show. The event pulls in builds from across Austria and neighbouring countries, with categories covering everything from mild to extreme modifications. The summer timing and outdoor setting give it a relaxed, show-and-shine atmosphere.

Motortag | 8-9 August

Motortag takes over the Salzburgring for a two-day mix of motorsport and car culture. The format blends track action with static displays and tuning showcases, so it covers more ground than a pure race meeting or a pure car show. The Salzburgring location near Salzburg makes it easy to combine with a broader trip.

Vienna Classic Days | 22-23 August

Two hundred historic cars cruise through the streets of Vienna over a weekend in late August. This is one of those events where the setting does most of the heavy lifting. Seeing pre-war cars and classic sports cars rolling past Baroque architecture gives the whole thing a character that purpose-built venues cannot match.

Austrian Motorshow | 12-13 September

The Austrian Motorshow in Wieselburg brings together lowriders, show cars, RC drift demos, DJ sets, and modified builds of every description. The event has a looser, more entertainment-focused energy than the traditional shows, and the variety means most people find something that catches their eye.

Classic Expo Salzburg | 16-18 October

Classic Expo Salzburg in October closes the Austrian classic car season. The Salzburg exhibition centre fills with dealers, restorers, and collectors, and the quality of the cars on display is consistently high. If you missed Tulln in May, this is the autumn equivalent.

Meets

Giacomo’s Night of Engines | 17 April

The season opener in Sieghartskirchen. Giacomo’s Night of Engines marks the point where Austrian car culture wakes up after winter. The meet draws a good cross-section of the local scene, and the early-season timing means people are keen to get out and see what others have been working on over the colder months.

Oldtimer Meets Sportscar | 1 May

Mitterdorf hosts this meet that pairs classic cars with modern sports cars on May Day. The name says it all. Oldtimers park alongside current-generation performance machinery, which creates some interesting visual contrasts and usually sparks good conversations between owners who might not normally cross paths.

Boxenstop! Car Meet | 9 May

The 4th edition of Boxenstop! in Sinabelkirchen brings together cars, street food, supermoto shows, and an aftershow party. The event has grown each year, and the combination of elements gives it a festival quality that goes beyond a standard parking lot meet. Expect a younger crowd and a good atmosphere.

Rehrlsalotsetzen | 16 May

An international oldtimer gathering in Koflach that welcomes cars built up to the year 2000. The name is distinctly regional, and the event has a warm, community feel that reflects its location in western Styria. This is the kind of event where you end up in long conversations with owners about cars you have never seen before.

XS Carnight Worthersee Edition | 16 May

Part of the broader Worthersee week in Klagenfurt, the XS Carnight runs as a warm-up event during the build-up to the GTI Treffen. The lakeside setting and the concentration of modified cars already in town for Worthersee make this a natural gathering point. If you arrive early for the main event, this is where the week begins.

PK Garage Season Opening | 6 June

PK Garage opens its season in Niklasdorf with a laid-back tuning meet. The event is community-driven and attracts a mix of builds from the Styrian scene. No pretension, just cars and people who are genuinely into them.

BMWspec4 | 13 June

A BMW-specific meet at Greinbach that includes track time. If you own a BMW and want to drive it on a circuit without entering a full race meeting, BMWspec4 offers that in a format that is accessible and well-organised. The paddock doubles as a meet with everything from E30s to current M cars.

Stance Forest | 13-14 June

A two-day stance gathering at the Wildensteiner Waterfall in Gallizien. The setting is genuinely unique. Low cars in a forest clearing beneath a waterfall is the kind of backdrop that makes photos from this event immediately recognisable. Camping and a VIP area are part of the programme, and the weekend pace gives it a more immersive feel than a single-day meet.

Low Cars Adventure | 20 June

Schwarzau hosts Low Cars Adventure, a meet dedicated to slammed builds. If your car scrapes on a speed bump, you are in the right company. The event draws the static and air-ride crowd from across Austria and neighbouring countries.

JDM Goes IKUNA | 26-27 June

A weekend-long Japanese car gathering at the IKUNA nature park in Natternbach. The combination of JDM cars and camping in a natural setting gives this one a character that indoor meets cannot replicate. Expect Silvias, Supras, Civics, and the occasional oddball import that nobody else has seen.

Abgelegen & Abgelegt | 4 July

An evening meet in Schweinz, deep in the Styrian countryside. The name translates roughly to “remote and laid-back,” which captures the vibe accurately. This is a summer evening spent looking at cars in a setting where the nearest traffic light is probably twenty minutes away.

Rollin Dudes Festival | 24-25 July

A multi-day festival at a nature park in Kaindorf. Rollin Dudes combines cars with music, camping, and the general atmosphere of a summer outdoor festival. The two-day format means people settle in rather than rush through, which changes the dynamic compared to single-day meets.

Low Scty Car Night | 1 August

A tuning event on a racetrack after dark at Greinbach. The combination of modified cars and nighttime lighting makes this one more photogenic than most, and the racetrack setting gives it a different feel from the usual meet-in-a-parking-lot format.

World of Stance | 15 August

Loipersdorf hosts World of Stance with free entry, which removes the usual barrier and means the event tends to draw a large and diverse crowd. The mid-August date puts it right in the heart of the season, and the free admission makes it easy to drop in even if you are just passing through the area.

Turbo Scheune | 22 August

Cars on a football field with lighting in Himberg. Turbo Scheune is one of those events that sounds unusual on paper but works in practice. The flat, open space gives every car room to breathe, and the lighting setup means the event looks as good after sunset as it does in daylight.

JapSpec9 | 5 September

The JDM season closer at Greinbach. JapSpec9 is the Japanese car equivalent of BMWspec, offering track time alongside a static meet. This is where the Austrian JDM community gathers to close out the year, and the quality of the builds has been climbing steadily with each edition.

Tuning

Worthersee GTI Treffen | 12-17 May

The event that put Austrian car culture on the international map. The official GTI Treffen at the congress centre in Klagenfurt is one part of it, but the real story is the week-long occupation of the roads around Lake Worthersee by thousands of modified VWs, Audis, and adjacent marques. The lakeside promenades become impromptu car shows, the tunnels become echo chambers, and the sheer density of builds in one place creates something that no organised event could replicate. Whether you drive a Golf or just appreciate obsessive attention to detail, Worthersee week is worth experiencing at least once.

Classic

Arlberg Classic Car Rally | 1-4 July

The Arlberg Classic takes 128 classic cars through mountain roads around Lech am Arlberg over four days. The Alpine passes in this part of Austria are among the most dramatic driving roads in Europe, and seeing classic machinery on them is a proper spectacle. The event is as much about the scenery and the social programme as it is about competition, and the town of Lech provides an appropriately elegant backdrop.

Ennstal Classic | 22-25 July

One of Europe’s more prestigious classic car rallies, running through the Enns Valley and surrounding Alpine passes over four days from Grobming. The entry list typically includes cars of genuine historical significance, and the routes are chosen to showcase the best of the Styrian and Salzburg Alps. The Ennstal Classic has built a reputation that puts it alongside events like the Mille Miglia and the Copperstate 1000 in terms of quality, even if the scale is more intimate.
