Car Events in Denmark 2026 | Complete Schedule

Denmark’s car event calendar is short, but the single entry on it is one of the most distinctive events in Europe. Sometimes one is enough when it is this good.

Romo Motor Festival | August

Vintage cars racing on a beach. That sentence alone should be enough, but the reality is even better than it sounds. The Romo Motor Festival takes place on Lakolk Strand, a vast flat beach on the island of Romo off Denmark’s North Sea coast. The sand is hard-packed enough to support proper speed runs, and the setting, with the North Sea stretching out behind the cars, gives the whole event a visual quality that no purpose-built circuit could ever match.

The cars range from pre-war machines to mid-century racers, and the atmosphere draws more from Pendine Sands or Daytona’s beach racing origins than from anything in modern motorsport. There is something elemental about watching a vintage car at speed on an open beach with salt air and grey skies as the backdrop. The festival also includes static displays and exhibitions, but the beach runs are the centrepiece, and they are the reason people travel from across Scandinavia and beyond to be here. If your idea of a perfect automotive event involves history, landscape, and the faint taste of sea spray, Romo is it.
